Croatia by train

Croatia by train

Planning a summer getaway to Croatia? Leave the car behind and opt for a comfortable and affordable travel option. Unlike 2023, there will be only one direct train connection to Croatia in 2024: a night train operated by ZSSK in cooperation with ÖBB, running from Bratislava/Vienna to Split.

Regiojet, which discontinued its service to Split last year, will not offer any train connections to Croatia this year. Instead, they now provide bus connections to Croatia.

Therefore, direct train connections to Croatia in 2024 are available from Bratislava and Vienna (ZSSK + ÖBB) and from Budapest (MAV). The Vienna connection offers car transport services, while the Budapest connection usually includes a dining car.

Car Transport to Croatia in 2024
In 2024, you won't be able to travel to Croatia, specifically Split, by car train from the Czech Republic. Czech Railways do not operate car trains to Croatia; the last connection was in 2009. Therefore, if you want to travel by train with your car or motorbike, you'll need to go to Bratislava or Vienna.
