Your Complete Guide to OneTicket: Simplified Train Travel in Czech Republic
All About OneTicket - A Single Ticket for Train Travel
All About OneTicket - A Single Ticket for Train Travel
OneTicket is a unified train ticket that can be used for regular commutes to work or school, as well as occasional trips, without having to worry about which carrier is arriving at the platform or which one suits your departure time.
Why should someone buy OneTicket and what benefits does it bring? Given that this tariff is not exactly the cheapest (compared to the offers of individual carriers), it is necessary to consider and think through its use. The offer makes sense where two or more carriers meet on one route. The offer is also ideal for routes where carriers do not offer promotional tickets.
If you buy a OneTicket ticket for the entire route, it guarantees you a more convenient solution and a guarantee in the event of an extraordinary event, delay or other unexpected situation, that you can, for example, use a replacement bus service or a taxi to your destination station. This is not possible in the case of individual purchases of two or more tickets.
What OneTicket Offers in Terms of Tickets, Travel Documents, and Discounts
OneTicket tickets can be purchased in the following variants:
- One-way ticket
- Return ticket
- One-way ticket with SJT 25 discount
- Return ticket with SJT 25 discount
- Route ticket – 7, 30 and 90 days
- Network ticket – 7, 30, 90, 180 and 365 days
- SJT 25 entry document – 90 and 365 days
- One-time surcharges for first class, for roundabout journeys and when changing the destination station
Transport services in which it is possible to travel within the Unified Tariff System (SJT) must allow travel in second (basic, economy) class and may allow travel in first class. For changing the class from second to first, the participating carriers allow the sale of additional payments at ticket offices or on the train. The exception is Czech Railways. They also allow you to combine their time surcharge for first class with a OneTicket ticket.
A participating carrier who does not designate the class in trains included in the SJT as "first" and "second" is obliged to inform which class ("Economy", "Relax", "Business", ...) corresponds to the first or second class. This decision is therefore purely up to the carrier and you will encounter it mainly on commercial connections on trains of Regiojet and Leo Express companies.
Of course, SJT offers tickets at special fares for children aged 6-15, pupils and students aged 15-26, and adults over 65. It also does not forget about free travel for children under 6, where each of them is entitled to their own seat, a 25% discount for holders of ZTP and ZTP/P passes and for journeys of family members to children in institutions.
Carriage of Luggage, Bicycles, and Animals
All of the above can be transported within the framework of a public service order without major restrictions. Animals must be on a leash and muzzled, or in a carrier with an impermeable bottom. Bicycles and luggage can also be transported without major difficulties. However, it should be mentioned that the sale of these documents is not currently offered in SJT. For a bicycle, you have to pay each carrier separately, either in advance at the ticket office or eShop, or when boarding the train with the conductor.
Long-distance and international trains, such as railjets, have a mandatory reservation for bicycles. Don't forget about it.
Where to buy tickets
Each of the carriers allows the sale of paper tickets at their ticket offices and on the train with the train staff. As an additional service, it can offer its eShop or mobile application. The current situation is that of the carriers involved in the Unified Tariff System, only Czech Railways offers the sale of tickets through their website or application.
As for electronic sales, tickets can also be purchased on the eShop and in the OneTicket application from the system administrator, CENDIS, s.p.
